Religious Freedom Restoration Act: Hidden Consequences of Changing Texas RFRA

April 6, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free
The Rev. Kelly Allen and Rabbi Samuel Stahl   invite you to join them for an important discussion about so-called “religious freedom” proposals being promoted by politicians around the country — and here in our home state of Texas. They believe these efforts misuse religion in ways that could lead to discrimination against our neighbors, particularly the LGBT community. As we said recently in a piece they co-authored for the Express News:
Some would have us believe that religious freedom is under assault in Texas and that government must do something about it. We question whether this is true. But even if it is, the proposed solution would undermine freedom rather than protect it. Freedom of religion is one of our most fundamental rights as Americans. But religious freedom does not give any of us the right to discriminate against or harm others.
