Luke Peterson, visiting professor in Contemporary International Issues at the Global Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh, will present “Palestine-Israel in the 21st Century: Ending Endless War.”
Peterson will discuss the current political situation in Palestine-Israel with an eye to a solution to the conflict that has eluded politicians and peace-makers for decades. He will speak from a perspective which emphasizes the universality of human rights and the need for social justice in any potential peace settlement in the Middle East.
Peterson received his doctorate in Middle Eastern Studies from King’s College, University of Cambridge. He has taught at St. Edward’s University, Aga Khan University in London, and the University of Cambridge where he was supervisor of Arabic Language instruction. He is the author of Palestine-Israel in the Print News Media: Contending Discourses, published in 2014 as part of the Routledge Studies on the Arab-Israeli Conflict.
Free and open to the public.
