It is the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence speech (April 4, 1967 at Riverside Church in New York.) . Dr. King felt compelled to break silence and speak of the united triplets of racism, militarism and extreme materialism fueling the Vietnam war and ruining US democracy, a panel will consider the relevance of the speech for today. The panel discussion will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the ICC Grossman Conference Center Auditorium and will repeat again at 12 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, in the Mabee Library Special Collections Room.
