The 490 foot-long bow-shaped pedestrian bridge spans the Mtkvari River in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia. Dedicated in 2010, it connects Old Tbilisi with the new district. The curvy steel and glass canopy top shimmers with an interactive light display at night, generated by thousands of white LEDs. The pulsating lights communicate, in Morse code, chemical elements from the Mendeleev’s periodic table of the elements that make up a human body. The concept of the Italian designer Michele De Lucchi was “the anthem of life and peace among people and nations.”
