Japan accepted the United Nation’s International Court of Justice’s ruling that Japan must stop whaling in the Antarctic in accordance with a ban on the practice. Australia had brought suit against Japan in 2010. Japan had claimed that they were only whaling for scientific purposes and that Australia’s pursuit of this case was just a way for the country to impose its cultural norms on Japan.
