As a part of Arab Spring, the Bahraini uprising, a series of demonstrations, amounting to a sustained campaign of civil resistance, in the Persian Gulf country of Bahrain begins with a ‘Day of Rage’. Inspired by the successful uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia, Bahraini youth organized protests using social media websites. Thousands of Bahrainis participated in 55 marches in 25 locations throughout Bahrain. Security forces responded to the peaceful protests by firing tear gas, rubber bullets, stun grenades and birdshot. More than 30 protesters were injured and one was killed.
