Tierra y Libertad Exhibit opening reception @ Blue Star
ARTIST STATEMENT I was moved to create this series of drawings, Tierra y Libertad, after the disappearance of a close friend due to drug cartel violence. I attempt to insinuate the many ways people suffer mutilation and death in Mexico by using common games played by children. Part of the Voices of the West Distinguished Lecture Series. Labor organizer and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta has a distinguished career as a champion for social justice. She co-founded the National Farm Workers Association alongside César Chavez and was a 2012 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Briscoe Partners and UTSA University Members are FREE.
