Tierra y Libertad Exhibit opening reception @ Blue Star

December 4, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

ARTIST STATEMENT

I was moved to create this series of drawings, Tierra y Libertad, after the disappearance of a close friend due to drug cartel violence. I attempt to insinuate the many ways people suffer mutilation and death in Mexico by using common games played by children. This body of work is an extension of my previous series Jugando a la Guerrita which features the single figure of a young boy, a wooden stick, and violent language relating the issues of innocence and corruption, which will continue to affect generations to come.
