Cornel West @ Ivy Educational Fund Dinner
The San Antonio Ivy Educational Fund, Inc. presents, “An Evening with Dr. Cornel West.” This year, this annual event will feature Dr. West, a prominent author, editor, professor, performer and commentator. Sponsored by the San Antonio National Pan Hellenic Council, this oratorical contest features junior high and high school students presenting speeches on “How would Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. respond to the recent incidents of excessive force used by law enforcement authorities in the commission of their duties?” They will be competing for awards and prizes. Free Second Sunday looks forward to MLK Day and examines civil rights. The museum celebrates tolerance, diversity, and the foundation of American and Texan ideals by hosting an afternoon of fun, hands-on activities the whole family can enjoy. This event is presented in support of DreamWeek San Antonio, a twelve-day, city-wide summit developed to promote an exchange of ideas on the universal issues facing our multi-cultural communities.
