Imam Mateen Siddiqui explains Sufism as Islam’s path of peace, moderation, acceptance and seeking harmony with God’s Will. Sufism, a form of Islamic Mysticism, can be found in Sunni, Shia and other Islamic groups and is largely apolitical. Imam Siddiqui is one of the founding associates of the As-Sunnah Foundation of America, an educational organization that works for the unity of the Islamic faith in the United States.  He has brought together prominent Islamic scholars from around the world showcasing Islam as the middle way. His career also involves significant contributions in the field of disaster relief and poverty alleviation. He works out of offices in Chicago and Burton, Michigan.

Speaker Series on Islam
The SoL Center opens the Winter/Spring season with a series of five classes focusing on “Islam—Hospitality and Diversity.” We offer this series to help counteract the inadequate representations of the Islamic faith presented by the media. Many of our friends and neighbors of Arab and Middle Eastern heritage suffer from the emphasis on the most extremist, violent groups of their faith as the essence of Islam. We encourage you to consider taking part in one or more of these classes to meet practicing Muslims and learn more about Islam.
