Look. Now look again. Did you really see and remember what you were looking at?

Close observation of works of art is a dynamic and creative experience that is increasingly used by medical schools and the medical profession to improve observational skills, creative thinking, comfort with ambiguity and relate these to diagnostic practices with patients.

Hear from Bonnie Pitman, a former director of the Dallas Museum of Art and current Distinguished Scholar in Residence at the University of Texas at Dallas. This interactive Reuter Grand Rounds presentation will engage you in the critical examination of works of art to demonstrate how the identification of key pieces of data, pattern recognition, and interpretation of meaning are key elements in medical decision-making.

A reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a 6 to 7 p.m. lecture.
