SA Citizens Filibuster: HANDS OFF Our PARK!

Join us for a Rally and Citizens’ Filibuster at City Hall on Wednesday, August 3rd at 5pm and let your voice be heard! We will start with a rally outside City Hall at 5pm, and then will speak out and “filibuster” at Citizens to Be Heard at 6 pm. All are welcome to speak!

Let us remind Roberto Treviño and the other members of City Council that we elected them to represent us and that we are tired of their reckless giveaways! They have repeatedly demonstrated that the needs and wants of big business are above those of the San Antonio community–from building a hotel in Hemisfair Park, to proposing major changes to Brackenridge Park, to giving away $7 million of taxpayer money to a hotel project that will be developed by Chris Hill/Crockett Urban Ventures and will be operated by White Lodging.

Just a reminder: White Lodging is not good for our SA Antonio community! The founder of White Lodging is a top financial contributor to Indiana Governor Mike Pence, who has a long history of being opposed to LGBTQ rights dating back to 2000! In 2015, Governor Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act that gave legal protections to business owners who did not want to serve same-sex couples.

Now, Treviño and the city leaders are giving our Hemisfair Park away. Treviño and the city are planning to build a hotel in Hemisfair Park! A hotel in a public park? Let’s be honest: a hotel in our public park does not improve our quality of life and is not for San Antonians.
