Marching and Protest Ordinance: Community Meeting

PURPOSE: to figure out next steps on issue of defending our rights to our streets, public spaces, and our right to protest

PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD: the goal is to invite as many organizers and activists as we can to •gather and inform each other on the history of this issue in our community, •inform on SAIWD’s ongoing resistance to the current marching ord, and
•for the organizing community to get on the same page on how to move forward together on this, so we can all continue working to engage more of our communities.

UPDATES:
D1’s Roberto Treviño is working on a CCR (Council Consideration Request) asking for the City Attorney to review the current airport ordinance and “parade” ordinance and report what options these leave for community to protest legally. Treviño and D8 staff have been asked to include SAIWD and the groups we work with in their consideration of how to proceed on this issue.
Let’s get together and plan how we want to participate in this effort and ways we want to maintain our rights to our streets, parks and our right to protest in our city.
