Etta Lubina Johanna Palm d’Aelders, a Dutch feminist outspoken during the French Revolution, gave the address Discourse on the Injustice of the Laws in Favour of Men at the Expense of Women to the French National Convention. In this speech, she stated that justice “must be the first virtue of free men, and justice demands that the laws be the same for all beings, like the air and the sun.”
