Monday’s Monument: World Peace Prayer Fountain, Fayetteville, Arkansas
The World Peace Prayer fountain sculpture, designed by Hank Kaminsky, was dedicated on New Years Eve 2002. It is a 10′ diameter bronze sphere sculpted in a traditional way with the prayer “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in over 100 languages hand sculpted on the surface. The sculpture sits as if floating in a pool and is mounted on a bearing so the anyone can spin it by hand like a prayer wheel. The sphere symbolizes the earth and all the prayers in over 100 languages emanate from the center of the sphere. Water flows over the entire surface washing every language, every prayer equally. It is located in the Fayetteville Town Centre
