Matthew W. Hughey, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Sociology and Affiliate Faculty in both the Africana Studies Institute and the American Studies Program at the University of Connecticut. A scholar of race, racism, and racial inequality, Professor Hughey examines: (1) white racial identity formation; (2) racialized organizations; (3) mass media racial representations; (4) public and political engagements with race, and; (5) advocacy and engagement with racism and discrimination.
