Jonathan Shay, “Moral Injury.” Dr. Shay, author of Achilles in Vietnam, will discuss moral injury as a more effective way of understanding post-traumatic stress disorder. Dr. Shay is a former psychiatrist for the Department of Veterans' Affairs and recipient of the MacArthur Genius Grant. He is currently an independent scholar writing and lecturing on the complex approaches needed to understand the psychological impact of war.
