“Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the National Parks,” Douglas Brinkley Lecture @TrinityU

February 15, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

CNN Presidential Historian and New York Times bestselling author Douglas Brinkley will speak at Trinity University at 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, in Laurie Auditorium. Brinkley will give a talk titled “Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the National Parks.” The event and is free and open to the public, and no ticket is required.

Trinity University Press, in partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Texas, is sponsoring this robust discussion about the Roosevelts’ national park legacy. Following the talk, Laura Huffman, director of the Nature Conservancy of Texas, will engage Brinkley in a timely examination of the National Park System’s future in an age of political turmoil. With a change in leadership in Washington and expanding consideration of oil drilling, mineral mining, and corporate branding, there is great concern about what may lie ahead for the parks in this age of climate change. It is certain to be a fact-filled and provocative evening.

Brinkley’s most recent book, Rightful Heritage: Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Land of America, will be available for sale. He will sign copies after the talk.
