Stand Against Gentrification, Colonization and Genocide at the Mission San José

Let the City know we do not approve of their bad decisions and exploitative tactics to further the gentrification of our neighborhoods. This Saturday’s celebration serves to wrongfully celebrate and continue to exploit the Mission system that was part of the history of genocide and the colonization of indigenous peoples. CELEBRATING COLONIZATION ALSO SERVES THE CITY’S ONGOING EFFORTS TO UTILIZE WATER, THE LIFE BLOOD OF MOTHER EARTH, AS AN ANCHOR/PAWN FOR FURTHER DESTRUCTION OF MOTHER EARTH AND CULTURAS.

On October 17th, the City of San Antonio will be holding the Inscription Ceremony at the San Jose Mission to celebrate the new World Heritage status of the Spanish Colonial Missions, including the Alamo. Included in their celebration of the Spanish Colonial Missions are guided walks of the Yanaguana trail. Although, this all seems well, these activities serve to mask the exploitative intentions of the development strategies by exploiting/manipulating native language and identity to cloud the true beneficiaries of the development that will feed off of this tourism – speculators,industry and developers. It will serve to mask and minimize the damage and suffering that colonization, genocide and gentrification has caused native peoples as well as to the fixed and low-income individuals and families that have been displaced due to gentrification efforts by the City of San Antonio.

Deje que la ciudad sepa que no aprobamos de sus malas decisiones y tácticas de explotación para fomentar la gentrificación de nuestros barrios. La celebración también sirve para celebrar injustamente y seguir explotando el sistema de las misiónes el cual fue parte de la historia del genocidio y la colonización de los pueblos indígenas. CELEBRAR LA COLONIZACIÓN SIRVE TAMBIÉN LOS ESFUERZOS DE LA CIUDAD PARA UTILIZAR EL AGUA LA SANGRE DE VIDA DE LA MADRE TIERRA COMO UN ANCLA PARA MÁS DESTRUCCIÓN DE LA MADRE TIERRA Y CULTURAS.

El 17 de octubre, la ciudad de San Antonio celebrará el nuevo estatus de Patrimonio Mundial de las Misiones Coloniales españoles, incluyendo el Alamo, con una ceremonia de inscripción en la Misión de San José. Incluido en su celebración de las Misiones Coloniales españoles estan una guía turistica de los ámbitos de la pista Yanaguana. Aunque, todo esto parece bien, estas actividades sirven para enmascarar las intenciones explotadoras de las estrategias de desarrollo mediante la explotación/manipulación de las lenguas y la identidad de los pueblos originales para nublar los verdaderos beneficiarios del desarrollo que se alimentan de este turismo – los especuladores, la industria y los desarrolladores. Servirá para ocultar y minimizar el daño y el sufrimiento que la colonización, el genocidio y el aburguesamiento le han causado a los pueblos originarios, así como a las personas y las familias de bajos ingresos que han sido desplazadas debido a los esfuerzos de gentrificación de la Ciudad de San Antonio.
