Rethinking the End of Immigration Detention: Strategies for Organization and Participation, presented by the Interfaith Welcome Coalition. Addresses by:

Folabi Olagbaju, “Ongoing Support and Sanctuary for Refugees in and out of Detention” Folabi Olagbaju is the National Grassroots Director for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS) where he leads the organization’s grassroots campaign engaging Lutherans on key organizational priority advocacy issues. Prior to joining LIRS, Folabi was Director of Amnesty International USA’s (AIUSA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Office where he managed the regional field program work and translated AIUSA’s human rights agenda into grassroots membership organizing plan and transformative human rights victories.

Joseph Sorrentino, “Success Strategies for Education and Advocacy, Nurturing Community Innovation, Awareness” Joseph Sorrentino is a writer and photographer. He has been documenting the lives of agricultural workers on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border for 12 years.

Jorge Montiel, “The Intersection of Politics, Policy, Immigration Law: Necessary Partnerships, Monitoring Practices, Grassroots Skills and Knowledge for the Next leg of the Journey.” Jorge Montiel is lead organizer of COPS/Metro Alliance.
