Poetic Medicine: Changing the World through Poetry
An Evening with Award-Winning Poet, Naomi Shihab Nye
& Acclaimed Poetry Therapist, John Fox

How does poetry serve as personal and collective medicine, transforming individuals and community life? Why build a life around poetry and how do communities benefit? What is the particular power of poetry that bears witness to social justice issues and mental health concerns?

With decades of practice, internationally respected authors and beloved poets Naomi Shihab Nye and John Fox will explore the healing power of poetry with us. They will read their own poems, and dialogue with one another regarding their lifelong devotions to poetry as a transformational force in the world.

Join us for an extraordinary evening at the Ecumenical Center that celebrates poetry-as-healer and highlights the work of the Institute for Poetic Medicine!
