“No Hate in SA” After Trump Protest Community Rally

“Join us in creating a safe space to speak out against hateful rhetoric & xenophobia this Friday, June 17th in downtown San Antonio at the Milam Park between 6pm & 8pm, coinciding with Donald Trump’s fundraising visit to our diverse community. This will be an opportunity for our community members of all ages, religions, ethnicities and capabilities to join voices and let the rest of the world know that “Hate is not welcome in San Antonio!” When other cities seem to be torn apart any time Trump steps foot into their communities, we know that San Antonio can respond in our own unique and peaceful way- through our culture, dignity and lots of humor.

“San Antonio’s creative community has mobilized for this action and will be sharing their talents through performances by bands, poets, actors, mariachis and much more.* This is a family friendly rally, as it is our individual families that end up feeling the blunt of hateful rhetoric and xenophobia. It is important that we make our presence felt no matter how old or young, regardless of our individual genders, religions, social status, immigration status, political affiliations, mobility capabilities or sexual preferences. This is OUR community and it will take more than hate speech to bring us down! San Antonio- Stand Up!

“This rally is scheduled for AFTER the Dump Trump San Antonio! protest at his fundraiser at Oak Hills Country Club. We created this after-protest rally as a safe space for those who might be unable to make the protest during the day. Our main focus is keeping this peaceful, while being more accessible to our youth and elders, accessible to workers who can’t afford to take a day off of work to protest, and accessible to those who might otherwise be hesitant from entering a very charged atmosphere like a Trump protest. This is our community too and it’s important for us to make our collective voices heard and show the world how we do it in SA- with our families, our culture and lots of humor!”
