MujerArtes Adobe Studio Grand Opening

Join us in celebrating the opening of the studio of MujerArtes, clay cooperativa de Esperanza. The studio is made out of Compressed Earth Blocks (adobe) and is the first adobe commercial structure in San Antonio in over 100 years. The women of MujerArtes were a critical part of the design and physical construction of the building.
You are invited to view the beautiful mural on the outside of the building, as well as the intricate tile work inside the building itself. The celebration will include ceremonia y musica.

About MujerArtes
The Cooperativa MujerArtes, located on the Westside, is a 21 year-old project sponsored by the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center. It has been teaching low income Latinas the art of working and creating with clay. A “lost” art in the United States of America, clay work is very much tied to everyday life as well as the universal circle of life. MujerArtes incorporates the cultura of the women in art in order to preserve and tell their stories and historia.
