Violence against women is a cross-cultural, global pandemic that is now considered a human rights issue. Statistics reveal that violence against women effects some one in three (1/3) women; although the crime is underreported, statistics do not reveal the terror that women may face at any given point in their lifetime. Statistics reveal that the majority of the violence inflicted on women is at the hands of men. Thus, in the same fashion as “A Call to Men” and President Barack Obama’s “It’s On Us,” this panel will gather to speak on ending violence against women in addition to act as a forum for men, young men of color, and people seeking to be a part of the solution. Part of Dr. King’s dream was to live in a peaceful world where equality was embraced. As men, we absolutely have to break the cycle by having sometimes difficult conversations to end violence against women; men have to stand in solidarity with women in ending this problem. Please join us in the quest to eradicating this societal ill from our community.
