Lecture: On the Run: Fugitive Life in an American City @ UTSA Downtown

April 29, 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Public Policy invites the community to the Spring 2015 Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series.

Dr. Alice Goffman, Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will present “On the Run: Fugitive Life in an American City.” Dr. Goffman is an urban ethnographer who grew up in Philadelphia, attended graduate school at Princeton, and now teaches at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Drawing on six years of fieldwork in Philadelphia, her book On the Run describes young men growing up as suspects and fugitives in the segregated black neighborhood torn apart by the war on crime and unprecedented levels of targeted imprisonment.

Lecture is free and open to the public. Reception to follow.
