June 11, is “Just One Day” – a day in which shelters across the nation have pledged to not kill any shelter pets. It is one day of not killing that could lead to a 2nd day and a 3rd day and so on for a No Kill Nation.
June 11 is the day the citizens of San Antonio have selected to commemorate all the lives lost at ACS and on our city streets at a Candlelight Vigil – preventable deaths that were caused by irresponsible pet owners who did not spay or neuter, who either allowed their pets to roam freely in their neighborhoods or abandoned them when they became inconvenient or moved, or when they became sick. Everyday, we find abandoned litters of newborn or growing puppies and kittens – whose deaths could have been prevented if their mamas had been spayed!
On June 11, we, the citizens are asking the community to take responsibility for all these deaths – ACS is but the end of the road in the path to death for these innocent pets. No Kill MUST start at home! Spay/neuter is the only way to prevent the birth of the hundreds of thousands of homeless, unwanted cats and dogs in our community!
Please join us for this Candlelight Vigil at 6pm at Alamo Plaza and bring an electronic candle.
