In 2016, City Council Governance Committee recommended the creation of this Faith-Based Community Initiative*. Based on best practices and Committee endorsement, a Community Faith-Based Liaison position was added to the Department of Human Services in San Antonio’s 2017 Fiscal Budget. The Liaison’s role is to facilitate relational collaboration and active partnerships between the San Antonio faith community and governmental agencies, non-profit organizations and community groups towards improving the lives of families and communities in need.
The Rev. Ann Helmke began in this service for the City and in this position on February 1st, 2017.
This conversational gathering on April 3rd is the first of hopefully monthly and productive convenings across San Antonio, with you and with the San Antonio Faith-Based Initiative.
