Hunger Strike in Solidarity with the Parents of Ayotzinapa

September 24, 2015 @ 5:00 pm - September 26, 2015 @ 1:00 pm

Free

For the one year Anniversary of the disappearances of the 43 student teachers of Ayotzinapa Normal School in Guerrero, Mexico various community members will do a 43 hour hunger strike.

The hunger strike will begin on Thursday Sept. 24 at 11 PM press conference at 5 PM that same day. Sept. 25 we will meet at 7 pm in front of Mexican Consulate for a vigil. Each hour is done in honor of one disappeared student.

We are doing this in solidarity with the parents of the 43 who have been on hunger strike since late August. Their one ask is that they get their children back —> http://lainfo.es/en/2015/08/10/mexico-parents-of-missing-43-will-hunger-strike/

Since last year there has been hundreds more people disappeared and activists and family members of Ayotzinapa have been killed or gone missing. We are also looking for answers as well as urge the United States Gov’t to intervene and to stop supporting the current corrupt Mexican Government.

The group of community members from Somos Ayotzinapa San Antonio will always have a representative in front of the Mexican Consulate during those 43 hours. Some of the people on hunger strike will go about their day either at work or in their communities while fasting.

If you want to join the fast sign up by calling Kimberly Rendon at Southwest Workers Union at (210) 299-2666.
