Healing our Hearts: One Month after Orlando: an Interfaith Gathering

Join us for an interfaith event, a nourishing hour of music, meditation, reflection, and affirmation to heal our hearts and our world.

It is easy enough, after the events that transpired at the Pulse night club in Orlando Florida on June 12, 2016 for our hearts to feel afraid. Overwhelm, anger, dismay, and heated debates still fill our newspaper headlines and social media. Our faith can easily seem lessened, or diminished. Our hearts can feel greatly hurt. We may fall into anger and hopelessness. We may ask ourselves, “Is it even possible that I make a difference?”

Following the example of Mahatma Gandhi, who said, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.” Several faith communities in San Antonio are coming together uphold each other’s hearts in healing in order to make a difference. We can begin by upholding peace within ourselves, affirming that peace is a place in our hearts. Doing so heals our hearts. As we heal our hearts, we realize our Faith cannot be lessened or diminished. This healing of our hearts makes it possible to rise above overwhelm, anger, dismay, and heated debates – and make a difference in the world, often by simply being a peaceful presence in the face of adversity.

This all-faiths citywide event, with the intention of healing our individual hearts in community, will be held on the one month anniversary of Orlando, July 12th at 7:00 p.m. This event is sponsored and hosted by Unity of San Antonio, Awakening Spiritual Collaborative Events, and Celebration Circle of San Antonio. Collectively they will provide inspiring music and uplifting words. Join us to awaken our hearts to the hope, beauty, and the goodness we are.

All are welcome regardless of ethnicity, language, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, economic status, occupation and faith background. There is no cost, a donation in any amount at the door will be collected for the victims and families of Orlando via the charity One Orlando.
