GET Launch Party! (Civic Engagement)

October 6, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$5

Growing Empowered Together (GET) is San Antonio’s coolest new nonprofit organization. We’re going public on October 6th and throwing a big Launch Party to celebrate. Please join us!

GET is a grassroots, arts-based, organization that aims to motivate and inspire the large population of nonvoting Texas millennials so that they begin to want to vote and volunteer in their communities. We’re a fully progressive organization, but also nonpartisan.

So, what is GET actually going to do, starting October 6th? GET produces original film shorts of young leaders, artists and influencers as they talk directly to their nonvoting peers on camera about what really motivates them to want to get active and vote. Those film clips will then become conversation-starters in a powerful social media campaign to help spread the messages, passions, and knowledge of young Texas voters to the disengaged youth of Texas. And, we’ll guide our newly-inspired young Texans to connect with other organizations, such as the Millennial-run MOVE San Antonio, in order to get them registered to vote and get them engaged on the issues that matter the most to them.

The coolest young Texans are aware of what is going on in their communities, they’re engaged in community discussions, and they vote. GET’s work involves giving a louder voice to those young community leaders, artists and influencers so that nonvoting Texans will want to join them by volunteering on community projects and by voting!

On October 6th, GET is joining other San Antonio organizations who aim to get out the Millennial vote in Texas, but our specialty is the inspiration and motivation part. Check out the lineup for our Launch Party to see what I mean:

Ten years from now, you’ll be proud to tell your friends that you were there when GET first got started. And, La Botanica’s garden patio is the perfect place for this occasion – great food and drinks too. You’ll love it!

Because this is the real deal event, we’re bringing in a theatrical lighting expert and powering up our GET production team to film our performers. GET is a grassroots, arts-based organization that makes mini-documentaries to be used as online conversation-starters between millennial voters and nonvoters. We want to tell you all about our community work. And, we want to meet you! So, please mark your calendars now.
