ABC and CNN television commentator, political strategist and syndicated columnist Donna Brazile will speak on January 22 at 7:15 p.m. in the Carver Community Cultural Center’s Jo Long Theatre, 226 N. Hackberry, as San Antonio Public Library’s premiere Black History Month event.
Brazile’s candid, insightful and ‘real’ delivery will bring a refreshing perspective and practical sensibility to a discussion of today’s political and societal headlines.
The event, which will include an open mic Q&A session, is co-sponsored by the Carver Community Cultural Center and the San Antonio Public Library Foundation.
Brazile is one of the best known, most influential African American women in modern American political life. Washingtonian Magazine named her one of the “100 Most Powerful Women in Washington, D.C.,” and Essence Magazine listed her as one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in America” by. She is also a weekly contributor and political commentator on CNN’s Inside Politics and American Morning.
Most notably, Brazile had a ringside seat to one of the most watched and polarizing elections in the nation’s history and became a part of it herself as Al Gore’s 2000 presidential campaign manager, a first for a black female.
