Darwin Day Seminar – Eugenie C Scott, former director of the National Center for Science Education, will provide a public lecture on Charles Darwin and the ongoing controversy surrounding his theory of evolution by natural selection. Dr. Scott, a trained physical anthropologist, has received many national awards for her efforts in increasing the public understanding of evolution and in combating efforts to introduce creationism and intelligent design into public high school science classrooms. Her recent awards include the Stephen Jay Gould Prize from the Society for the Study of Evolution and a Distinguished Service to Science Education Award from the National Science Teachers Association. The lecture is part of Trinity University’s celebration of the 206th birthday of Charles Darwin
