Building Resilience in Face of Climate Change: Why Equity Matters

September 19, 2017 @ 6:30 am - 8:30 pm

Free

Alamo Sierra Club – Tuesday, September 19, 6:30 pm

Our September General Meeting will be a panel and audience discussion on what the people of San Antonio can do to make our neighborhoods better prepared to cope with the impacts of climate change, and – at the same time – reduce S.A.’s greenhouse gas emissions.

  • How could we ramp up our energy- conservation and efficiency measures enough that CPS-Energy could close all four coal-fired power plants by 2025 or earlier?
  • How could we, by 2020, reduce our water use so greatly that SAWS won’t need the expensive and energy-intensive Vista Ridge pipeline and could use the extremely energy-intensive desalination plant, only as-needed?
  • How could the city promote equity and conservation city-wide by changing the way the many utility rates for residential users are calculated? And what if responsible citizens said firmly, “We refuse to pay for anything but renewable energy and renewable water.”

Let’s help make our Climate Action Plan ambitious enough and work together to enhance the resilience of our whole community!

Free and open to the public.

Bus routes 90 and 20.
