SUMMARY:Shia Nizari Ismaili Traditions @ the SoL Center
DESCRIPTION:with Dr. Zarin Gillani\nTuesday\, Feb. 3\, 7 – 9 p.m.;$15 or $60 for series\nRegister By: Jan. 27. Enrollment: 12 min. / 60 max. \nShia Nizari Ismailis are a branch of the Shia tradition in Islam\, led by the Aga Khan IV\, Prince Shah Karim Al Husseini. They are active in programs and projects throughout the developing world to improve the lives of all people. Dr. Gillani will discuss how they relate to their sister communities within the Muslim Ummah\, the Muslim community at large. Dr. Gillani is a clinical and educational psychologist and life coach in practice in San Antonio. \nSpeaker Series on Islam\n The SoL Center opens the Winter/Spring season with a series of five classes focusing on “Islam—Hospitality and Diversity.” We offer this series to help counteract the inadequate representations of the Islamic faith presented by the media. Many of our friends and neighbors of Arab and Middle Eastern heritage suffer from the emphasis on the most extremist\, violent groups of their faith as the essence of Islam. We encourage you to consider taking part in one or more of these classes to meet practicing Muslims and learn more about Islam. \n
