For the opening weekend\, two highly qualified Tibetan monks\, Lama Passang Gelek and Geshe Thupten Dorje\, will share blessings and teachings. All are welcome! \nBiographies —\nGeshe Thubten Dorjee \nLama Passang Gelek \nCenter activities are held on the property of a founding supporter\, nestled among the hills north of 1604 off of Blanco Road. Located at a private residence\, the grounds are open to visitors during scheduled events. \nFriday — Rev. Ann Helmke and representatives of the peaceCENTER will share the story of how the peaceCENTER and its 5+ year emphasis towards a Compassionate San Antonio worked to advocate for San Antonio’s Mayor and City Council to formally adopt the International Charter for Compassion as a Compassionate City this past June 22nd. Light dinner provided. LEARN MORE \nSaturday — Lama Passang and Geshe Dorje will conduct the official blessing and ritual puja to mark the opening of the Tibetan Buddhism Center for World Peace – San Antonio. Geshe Dorjee will share a teaching on the essential practices of Buddhism\, and an informal lunch will be available. \nSunday — All are invited to bring their family pets and companion animals for a Blessing of the Animals by Lama Passang and Geshe Dorje. The event will take place on the center’s lawn and be kid-and-animal friendly. After the blessing\, an informal afternoon Tibetan Tea Party will take place on the terrace and deck. \nABOUT US:\nSInce 2005\, a group of San Antonio Buddhist practitioners has been receiving ongoing teachings from Resident Teacher Lama Passang Gelek and Geshe Drakpa—as well as several visiting guest teachers. In 2017 the opportunity arose to re-locate the teaching venue\, and to establish a Buddhism Center for all interested persons. The lamas have given the center the name\, Tibetan Buddhism Center for World Peace. \n
