Enrollment: 12 min. / 60 max.\nDr. Habiba Noor\, Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Religion at Trinity University\, and Imam Omar Shakir\, Chaplain\, Texas Department of Corrections\, will open this series on Islam. Dr. Noor will address the question\, “One or multiple Islams?” To what extent do they acknowledge each other? What is the one thing on which there is unity?  Imam Shakir will share the story of the development and growth of a branch of Islam in America. \nSpeaker Series on Islam\n The SoL Center opens the Winter/Spring season with a series of five classes focusing on “Islam—Hospitality and Diversity.” We offer this series to help counteract the inadequate representations of the Islamic faith presented by the media. Many of our friends and neighbors of Arab and Middle Eastern heritage suffer from the emphasis on the most extremist\, violent groups of their faith as the essence of Islam. We encourage you to consider taking part in one or more of these classes to meet practicing Muslims and learn more about Islam. \n
