SUMMARY:Mexican Migration to the United States: Perspectives From Both Sides of the Border
DESCRIPTION: \nThe UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures will welcome UTSA Mexico Center director Dr. Harriett Romo and Mexico Center program director Olivia Mogollon\, along with U.S. and Mexican scholars\, for a panel presentation on migration between Mexico and the U.S. \nRomo and Mogollon recently published a compilation of contemporary research including the work of prominent Mexican and U.S. scholars. The book\, Mexican Migration to the United States: Perspectives from Both Sides of the Border\, published by UT Press 2016\, has been well-received in Mexico and will be presented at the ITC September 23. Mexican and U.S. contributors will present their research\, with commentary from Mexican scholar\, Pablo Mateos\, from the Mexican research center CIESAS. The presentations will be in English. \nThe book presents perspectives from both sides of the border\, with American and Mexican scholars speaking from the unique lenses of their academic disciplines: anthropology\, history\, political science\, economics and more. The book is structured around themes including legal frameworks for immigration in the U.S. and Mexico\, experiences of immigrants in the U.S.\, and return migration. \n
