SUMMARY:Mayor's Housing Summit
DESCRIPTION:The 2016 Mayor’s Housing Summit will offer an opportunity for housing practitioners and advocates to get the latest information\, exchange ideas and build relationships to support the creation of healthy neighborhoods. In addition to keynotes and general sessions\, there will be five multi-session tracks running concurrently\, from which attendees can choose: \nFinancing and Funding—innovative strategies and case studies from Texas and across the country\nHomelessness—addressing local challenges through national best practices\nHousing Commission Update—reporting out from the Mayor’s Commission\nInnovation—design and technology strategies at the intersection of housing and sustainability\nPolicy and Planning—creating a regulatory framework that supports healthy housing production and neighborhoods \nThere are several opportunities to attend these sessions throughout the day\, with a recap at the Open House in the evening. \nHealthy growing cities have dynamic and diverse neighborhoods offering a mix of housing opportunities for all. The 2016 Housing Summit will help us achieve and maintain this goal by: \n\nUpdating and informing the housing community about the current housing ecosystem;\nEngaging participants from different disciplines in positive conversations with varied viewpoints;\nProviding targeted information and seeking feedback on barriers to housing production\, especially the production of affordable housing;\nAdvising policy makers and housing providers about necessary local changes; and\nPromoting opportunities for specific action.\n\nThe Summit is free\, but pre-registration is required. \n
