DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the annual Frank Paredes Memorial Lecture on Ethics and Culture hosted by the San Antonio Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (SASPS). \nThis year’s topic\, “Restorative Justice: Bursting the School to Prison Pipeline\,” a collaboration of legal and psychological education for professionals and the public\, will be presented to the public by a panel of experts including Judge Laura Parker\, The 386th State District Court and Chair of the Juvenile Board for Bear County; Philip Carney\, Coordinator of Restorative Discipline\, North East Independent School District\, San Antonio; and Anne Thomas. Ph.D.\, Deputy Chief of Clinical Services for Institutions\, Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department. \nRestorative Justice is an effective practice that emphasizes repairing the harm caused in relationships by criminal behavior. It has been applied to youth within the juvenile justice system and school settings and its impact is not only seen between the parties involved\, but also as a larger systemic effect on organizations and within the community. \nSASPS aims to connect the legal and mental health fields to overall better our services and support to those in the juvenile justice field.
