SUMMARY:Finding the Voice of the Voiceless in the Hebrew Bible with Michal Lemberger @SoL Center
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER BY JULY 14 \nWhat can we learn by looking at the biblical stories of those who were voiceless? We will look past the “winners”—especially King David—to those whose lives are more complicated by loss\, betrayal\, and politics. Discover what these stories tell us about the text of the Hebrew Bible and our own culture with poet and scholar Michal Lemberger. \n Long interested in the stories and experiences of women and the landscape of the ancient world\, Michal Lemberger is a poet and scholar of the Hebrew Bible. Her debut collection of short stories\, After Abel and Other Stories\, was a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award and Honorable Mention for the American Library Association’s Sophie Brody Medal. Her poetry\, essays\, and journalism have appeared widely\, in publications including Real Simple\, Slate\, The Rattling Wall\, and Tablet. She holds a B.A. from Barnard College and a Ph.D. from UCLA. Originally from New York\, Michal lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two daughters. \n
