SUMMARY:Election Eve Compassionate Conversation
DESCRIPTION: \nJOIN Compassionate San Antonioon \nfor a Compassionate Conversation on Post-Election Relations\n\n\n\nMonday\, November 7\, 6:30-8:30 PM@ The Whitley Center\, Oblate School of Theology285 Oblate Drive\, San Antonio\, TX 78216On the day after the election\, can we still be friends? On the day after the election\, we’ll still live two doors down from her\, still work next to him\, and that uncle (you know who we mean) will still expect his annual invitation to Thanksgiving dinner. On the day after the election we will still be in this family\, this neighborhood\, this city\, this country\, this planet.\nThe earth will still spin on its axis. How will we live together then?On the day before the election\, join Compassionate San Antonio in a conversation about the day after the election \nIt’s free and open to everyone. Put it on your calendar and invite a friend. Yes\, that friend. We’ll be providing more details as the date approaches. Election Eve Conversation is being brought to you in partnership between Compassionate San Antonio\, Dare to Listen (TPR)\, the Dialogue Institute/Southwest and NOWCastSA.\n\nWe are not suggesting that we all be “nicey-nice\,” avoid speaking about difficult and controversial issues\, or even that we avoid conflict. We are suggesting that we all need to practice ways to speak our truths and hold onto our deepest values while still preserving the precious relationships that give meaning to our lives. That we dare to listen. That with every breath\, we hold open the possibility of forgiveness and reconciliation. It won’t be easy. Over the next six weeks we’ll be sharing some tools to help us be the change we wish to see in the world. We borrowed this civility pledge from “Teaching Tolerance\,” an initiative of the Southern Poverty Law Center. On their web site\, you can sign the pledge and get more resources that will help you discuss the election with passion and civility. Cut it out an \n
