DESCRIPTION:Changemakers 2016\, a program intended for seekers of justice\, Friday July 22-Sunday July 24. \nJoin a critical mass of faith-filled people…to make the needs of our local and global communities more visible\, reflect on our responses to those needs and re-imagine how we might take action….” The keynote speaker will be Cynthia Moe-Lobeda\, an author\, speaker and Professor of Theological and Social Ethics (Berkeley and California Lutheran). Recent book: Resisting Structural Evil.)\n\n$50.00 includes program and dinners for local commuters. $100.00 for those needing housing. Register by July 11 at www.msjc.net\, or an additional $50.00 will be added for late registration. Scholarships available. Detailed program is available at the website.\n\n\nThe CHANGEMAKERS process will include:\n\n1. Highlighting how current changemakers creatively and effectively address:  Eliminating extreme poverty and social exclusion; Building a more just and people-oriented economic system; Ensuring environmentally sustainable ways of living and caring for the earth; Promoting non-violent alternatives to conflict and war; Promoting democratic values so that people can participate more fully in the decisions that affect them; as well as other important issues that changemakers address in their own backyards.\n\n2. Drawing connections between local issues and strategies and broader movements that help us “connect the dots” and discover new opportunities for addressing the systemic issues that\nconfront humankind.\n\n3. Discerning intentional action strategies by which Marianist Family members\, friends and other “seekers of justice” might more effectively and collaboratively engage in social transformation efforts.\n\n4. Identifying specific ways that individuals and communities could participate in these efforts.\n\n
