SUMMARY:6th Annual Walk Against Genocide
DESCRIPTION: \nWe will commemorate the life of Elie Wiesel (1928-2016) Wiesel was an American Jewish writer\, professor\, political activist\, Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor. He was the author of 57 books\, including Night\, a work based on his experiences as a prisoner in the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps. We will also hear from Haroun Rashid about life as a Rohingya Muslim in Burma (Myanmar) and his experiences as a refugee in the US. \nCome hear speakers\, listen to music\, participate in activities and walk in support of those suffering. \nProgram:\n2:00pm registration\n2:15pm speakers: Maxine Cohen and Haroun Rashid\n3:00pm walk begins\n3:30pm: advocacy training session\nMusic with Dana Clark & Center for Refugee Services students throughout the event \nThe Holocaust Museum will open at 11:00am. Please come early and tour the museum. \nThe peaceCENTER will be one of the organizations that have a table at the event. \n
